Purple and Turquoise Triangle Quilt: In Progress

This triangle quilt has been slow-going, but I thought I'd share with you my progress. As much as I loved the gradient of colors that I showed in my first post here, I decided to go with a random pattern of colors. I'm not going to lie, triangles are tricky and it took me a few tries and quite a bit of seam ripping before I got the hang of it. I'll share more on my discoveries in my final post.
I told you my daughter loved purple and over the last few days, I'm really noticing how much purple she has.  This doesn't even scratch the surface, but I thought it would give you an idea. This is just from one day.

Purple jacket, boots, hat and mittens...
Purple polka dot shirt...
Purple (and blue) slippers...
And of course, her purple heart blanket.
This one can't get enough. I never was a purple lover, but it's growing on me because of her. Do you have a child obsessed with a certain color? And on a quilting note, have you tried a triangle quilt like this? If so, what was your experience? I'll share more on mine soon.

  1. Love it!!! Your triangles are perfect!! Yah, mine don't look like yours at all. :( I'm determined tho, so practice makes perfect. I love the random layout you chose - and the colors are lovely. Your daughter is so cute. We love pink here, which my husband really doesn't appreciate but in a house full of girls, what choice does he have? Can't wait for your tips!!

  2. I'd love to make a triangle quilt at some point! I don't think I've ever seen one done with solids - it looks great!

  3. Loooove your quilt! My daughter is a pink-wearer (she's nearly 2), but only because 95% of her wardrobe are hand-me-downs from friends or gifts. I don't particularly like pink, but it's growing on me because of her, I guess.

Now that I am having a girl soon,we shall wait and see what color she prefers. I kinda am hoping for purple since her room is in purple!!

  10. Love it! I went through a period where I was making a lot of triangle quilts (Thousand Pyramids was what we called them), but I've never made one all in solids. So tempting!

  17. I've been working on a triangle quilt, but have stalled a little on it. I have all my pieces cut and am slowly putting the rows together (I think I've done 5 rows??). Love your colours in your with the pops of blue!
