Charm Packs Baby Quilt

I've had a number of quilting projects in the works for well over a year, but never had the time to finish them. Now that my schedule is not so insane, I'm digging out some old projects and finishing them up before I create new ones. While some people have a tendency to start multiple projects at once (and not finish any of them), I have to admit, I am pretty good about staying focused on one from beginning to end. I don't like the clutter of having multiple projects going on.

This quilt was started after buying a two charm packs at my local fabric shop a couple years ago. Most of the fabric in this quilt is from the Patisserie collection by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda. I really like the muted color combination of red, pink, orange, olive green, brown, yellow and cream. While most of the prints may seem to be more on the sophisticated side, I thought this would make an adorable baby quilt with an antique feel.

The finished quilt measures 37" square. Out of the two charm packs, I chose 60 of my favorite squares and arranged them diagonally. To achieve an appropriate baby quilt size, I added a solid cream cotton as a border.

The backing and the binding are from the same Patisserie collection. I quilted it diagonally, but only in one direction to avoid it looking overly traditional.

I have to say, it feels good to have this quilt complete. I'm off to tackle a few more projects that have been waiting for me. I'll post those when I get further along so make sure to sign up for email updates.

  1. That is a beautiful Quilt. The quilting on the diagonal is just perfect. It has an old/new flavor to it. Now what are you going to do with it?

  2. Good question Fey. I thought about selling it since I don't have any babies anymore, but for now I am going to hang on to it. I may need an example of my work.
